This is a case study of vibration measurement and analysis on air duct of primary air fan installed at a new thermal power plant. Excessive vibration amplitudes were noticed at many points of air duct during project commissioning. This resulted in a concern by plant owner and detail vibration analysis and correction is required. Vibration data was measured using motion amplification (MA) camera for structure vibration analysis and evaluation. FEA model was then constructed and validated with measured vibration data before vibration and dynamic stress can be predicted for fatigue assessment then structure modification is proposed to minimize vibration amplitude.
